Objectives of association
The purpose of the association is to protect and promote the professional interests of its members who are involved in the import, production, packaging and/or marketing of tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze) and herbal and fruit teas (tea-like products) in all genres and dosage forms, in both material and economic areas.
Industry
Since 2020, the German Tea & Herbal Infusions Association is the new competence centre for all questions of raw material procurement, quality assurance and the marketing of black and green tea, herbal tea and fruit tea. Following the merger of the German Tea Association, founded in 1917, and the German Herbal Infusions Association, founded in 1997, the association is based in the "tea capital of Europe", where a large part of the products traded in Germany and Europe are handled and where the European umbrella organisation is also based.
The members of the association are predominantly medium-sized companies, which together represent over 90% of the tea industry in Germany. Around 5000 people are employed in the industry, with a total annual turnover of 950 million euros.
